Standing Still Exercises

Non-action is the real action.
One Hundred acts are not as good as
one moment of silence.
One hundred exercises are not as good as
one moment of standing still.
Big action is not as good as small action.
Small action is not as good as non-action.
~ Wang Xiang Zhai

The following positions are powerful, be careful only to do these at first 2 minutes each day, gradually work up to 20 minutes for each. At first just standing will be difficult, you will think of a thousand things you will need to do. You are just not used to relaxing, your internal body may seem to be churning - internal movement this is normal. We rarely relax, our minds are always busy. It is said our minds "scamper around like a monkey.

After many days of training you will have generated immense power in yourself. Your hands will pulse with power with just a thought. The bodies Chi power fluctuates, some days it may be weak, and some days you will have unbelievable power. If you train daily you may experience a extreme power, sometimes your body will get extremely hot, also you will feel like every muscle had a extreme workout.

Before trying these exercises read the preparations instructions on the "Energy Awareness Page".

First postion
"Gathering your Chi"

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and parallel pointing forward.
  2. Sway on feet until you find a straight position, left-right, forward - back a centered position.
  3. Stand with your feet a shoulder width apart, toes pointing forward.
  4. Knees slightly bent, unlock your knees, which lowers you about 2".
  5. Knees never extend beyond your toes.
  6. Your rear end is slightly tucked in, not sticking out, a position that seems the most comfortable.
  7. Rest your hands on belly on and just below the belly button.
  8. Breathe calmly, slowly and deeply through the nose.
  9. Your eyes look forward and slightly downward; drop your chin so that your throat is not pushed forward.
  10. Stand quietly, allowing your whole system to calm down, in a quiet place.

At first only two minutes at a time, then gradually weeks latter work up to around twenty minutes. This can be done morning (5 to 6 am) and night (10:30 pm to 12:00).

From below your kneecaps, your roots extend downward. From your knees upward you rise like a tree, resting calmly between the earth and the sky. Your weight is evenly distributed between your left and right feet. These roots sink deep into the earth.

Second position
"Holding your belly"

This is to be done only when you have mastered "gathering your Chi". After standing in the first position for some time slowly bring both your arms forward to form an open circle in front of your water Chakra or just below your belly button level. Your open palms face your stomach. The distance between the fingertips of your hands is 6 to 10 inches.

Your fingers are apart and the thumb is even father apart, this is done comfortably, relaxed. Imagine that you are holding inflated balloon between your hands.

You may feel the sensation of magnets pushing away from each other. As you probably saw as a child when playing with magnets, magnets push each other away if you try to bring together their like poles, for example, two north or two south poles. This is the feeling that can be felt. I am not saying you will become a magnet, but it is some sort of energy that acts in the same way.

You can experiment by slowly rotate your right hand, (your right side is the positive charge and the left is a negative charge). You will feel a sensation in your left hand. Try pulling your hands apart then slowly push them together. You will feel the intensity grow, the ball of energy will grow in size. As the weeks pass the size of the energy ball may increase, and your internal energy will grow. Some days it will be smaller then larger, the size and strength may surprise you.
